A unique contest and event dedicated to the recognition of successful business transfers!
Established in 2006, the objective of the Business Transfer Awards is to celebrate the unique achievements of Quebec businesses that have successfully completed the succession process and that have thereby ensured their long-term sustainability.
Similar contests that seek to celebrate business transfers – whether they are completed through family members or through employees or external parties – are few and far between. It comes as no surprise, then, that the Awards have attracted many businesses that have been recognized for the exemplary success of their transitions.
Transfers rely, above all else, on the leadership of the founder and successor team members; the consolidation of the company’s values, operational growth, and development; and the transfer of knowledge and expertise in combination with the transfer of ownership and decision-making.
One cannot help but be encouraged by the entrepreneurial values espoused by both founders and successors, namely, courage, integrity, tenacity and sheer passion. The innate strength of the businesses that they run demonstrates the dedication of their staff members, who work with an unfailing and dogged determination to see their companies grow. With each passing year, new winners become an inspiration to current and future entrepreneurs, since entrepreneurs of all ages are encouraged to apply.
Since they began, the Business Transfer Awards have generated an ever-increasing amount of enthusiasm not only among Quebec companies, but also among many privately held companies and institutions within the broader business community – some of which are driven, out of a sense of loyalty, to help Quebec companies reach their long-term goals. They realize that rallying around a common cause is rewarding in and of itself.
It is in an increasingly competitive yet stimulating and forward-thinking environment that PwC and its partners wish to highlight privately held Quebec companies. The Awards will not only help them gain exposure, but will raise awareness in the business community at large about the importance of planning ahead for a business transfer.
